How to create a Google Adwords account

Creating a Google AdWords account is easy – but don’t fall into their trap! Google Adwords is a powerful advertising platform, with tremendous flexibility and power. Adwords ‘Express’ is an easy way to get started, but lacks the power and capabilities of Adwords – and often costs you more. If you’re working with an agency (like Mtek Digital) to manage your online ads, you’ll want to ensure you set up a full ‘Adwords’ account.

Using Google Adwords – not only can you advertise on Google’s search results – appearing before the ‘organic’ search results – but you also have access to the full Google network, including YouTube and thousands of sites using the AdSense distribution platform.

This powerful option can require some caution of course.  The system is designed to spend your money – and display your ads as often as possible, wherever possible.  Working with an agency (like us) will help you target where and how often your ads will run, and ensure that you’re getting the best value for your investment.

Once you’ve got your account created, you’ll want to note your 10 digit account number. This number can be provided to an agency so that they can request access to support your campaign needs.

The Adwords platform provides an incredible opportunity to reach potential clients at relevant times in the purchase cycle. Search ads catch users when they are looking for specific information related to your products and services.  Display ads can be displayed on sites that a relevant to their pastimes or behaviours, and YouTube provides a way to generate interest in your business, or products while they watch relevant content on the largest video site in the world.

Plumbing service providers can literally display their ads and offers to someone currently watching a video on how to DIY a trouble spot like a leaky faucet.  With the right ad – you can inform, educate, and generate brand trust or loyalty – for just pennies.

If you’re ready to start expanding your marketing, and are looking for new ways to generate leads, create brand awareness, or simply make the phone ring, Adwords should be your first choice.
