Why Should you Reserve Social Media Channels

Did you know, according to Hubspot, social media drives double the leads of trade shows, direct marketing, and telemarketing?
Even if you’re not ready to launch a campaign or go full swing into social media, it’s a good idea to reserve your place among the big guys. Here are a few simple reasons why you should:

To streamline branding.

Your handle will serve as your brand’s name. If you don’t reserve it quickly someone else could snatch up the name causing confusion for your leads. Reserving your handle ensures you own your brand’s name—instead of the competition.

To start getting backlinks.

Backlinking from social media is a great way to increase your sales and drive traffic. Even if you aren’t going to be very active or don’t plan on posting anything for quite some time, having your website’s URL in your ‘about’ section can drive traffic with curious clicks.

To show the world you’re serious.

Customers won’t take you seriously unless you have some form of social media presence. Even if you’re a local business that serves only a few customers per year, at a minimum you should have a Facebook page. Be sure to claim it before someone else does.

What Social Media Sites Should You start With?

The big four social media sites are where you should invest your attention. These are:

  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Twitter
  • Google Plus

Go to each of these sites and setup a new profile for your business. Do your best to streamline your brand across each network so that you’re easy to find once you do start posting. If you’re only going to do one or two, we would highly recommend Facebook and Twitter. These two sites see massive amounts of traffic from customers if you’re in the B2C industry. If you’re a B2B company, then opt for LinkedIn and Google Plus.
